Filing in context
The Other (engine) is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 19 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 41 Mitsubishi notifications from 2024 in this archive. For scale, 355 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 11 years and 1 month.
Issue
In the vacuum pump that supplies negative pressure to the brake booster, the internal check valve is made of an unsuitable material. Under severe cold conditions well below freezing, moisture adhering to the check valve may freeze and cause it to stick. When this occurs, negative pressure is no longer supplied to the brake booster, brake pedal effort increases, and stopping distance is extended.
Corrective action
Replace the vacuum pump on all vehicles with a corrected part. Because sourcing replacement parts requires time, replacements will be carried out beginning with vehicles in Hokkaido and the Tohoku region, then proceeding in sequence.
Affected models & chassis ranges
This filing lists 3 type code(s). A vehicle is affected if its chassis number falls within one of the ranges below.
