Defect
Final vehicle inspections were not conducted properly because pass/fail determinations were made by uncertified personnel (inspection assistants) rather than by authorized inspectors, leaving the required Safety Standards inspections under the Road Vehicles Act potentially incomplete.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, conduct a full inspection at a designated service facility and have a certified vehicle inspector verify compliance. Any nonconformance with the Safety Standards is to be corrected. Where inspection and correction are performed at an authorized repair shop, this is treated as a provisional measure.
