Filing in context
This notification is a joint filing by 2 manufacturers: Mazda & Suzuki.
The Other (Emissions/Noise) is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 11 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 19 Mazda notifications from 2019 in this archive. For scale, 766 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 4 months.
Defect
The control software in the on-board telematics controller is incorrect. When the ignition switch is turned off, the controller's communication function may stop, preventing fault data from being read by an external diagnostic tool. In addition, because standby current continues to flow through the controller even with the ignition off, parking the vehicle for several days without use may drain the battery, leaving the engine unable to start.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, reprogram the on-board telematics controller with the corrected/updated software, or replace the controller with a corrected/revised part.

改善措置
全車両、車載通信コントローラの制御プログラムを対策プログラムに書き換える、または、車載通信コントローラを対策品に交換する。
