Defect
In the engine control computer, a flawed cylinder deactivation control program may cause the valve clearance adjustment mechanism to malfunction when returning from cylinder deactivation mode. This can cause the rocker arm to disengage and contact adjacent components, resulting in engine misfire and loss of power output. In the worst case, the engine may stall.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, reprogram the cylinder deactivation control program in the engine control computer with the corrected/updated software.

状況
エンジン制御コンピュータにおいて、気筒休止制御プログラムが不適切なため、気筒休止から復帰する際、バルブクリアランス調整機構が誤作動することがある。そのため、ロッカアームが脱落して周辺部品と干渉し、エンジン失火による出力不足が発生して、最悪の場合、エンジンが停止するおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、エンジン制御コンピュータの気筒休止制御プログラムを対策プログラムに修正する。
