Defect
The clip retaining the speedometer cable is insufficiently crimped, preventing it from securing the cable when the suspension compresses and extends. The cable may disengage from the clip and, when the steering wheel is turned fully left while parking, become trapped and fractured at the steering stopper. As a result, the speedometer may cease to function.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the speedometer cable with a new part and re-crimp the cable retaining clip correctly.
