Defect
The grease applied to the speedometer cable contains incompatible compounds that cause the PVC outer covering to harden. Continued use allows cracks to form in the covering, permitting water to enter during washing or wet conditions. The cable then rusts and seizes, leading to cable fracture or loss of meter gear teeth. In the worst case, the speedometer stops functioning.
Corrective action
All vehicles: replace the speedometer cable with a corrected part and inspect speedometer operation. On vehicles where the speedometer is not functioning, replace the brake panel assembly, or both the brake panel assembly and the speedometer, with new units.

状況
スピードメータケーブルに塗布されたグリース成分が不適切なため、被覆材（ＰＶＣ）を硬化させることがある。そのため、そのまま使用を続けると、被覆材に亀裂が生じ、洗車等により水が浸入し、ケーブルが錆びて固着することがあり、ケーブルの折損又はメータギヤが欠け、最悪の場合、速度計が作動しなくなるおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、スピードメータケーブルを対策品と交換するとともに、速度計の作動状態を点検し、作動しないものはブレーキパネル一式又はブレーキパネル一式と速度計を新品に交換する。
