Defect
The induction hardening zone at the base of the propeller shaft slide yoke spline is improperly specified, resulting in insufficient strength. Continued use may cause a crack to develop at that location. In the worst case, the propeller shaft may fracture, rendering the vehicle inoperable.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the propeller shaft with a conforming unit.
