Defect
On the front and inter-axle propeller shafts, inadequate manufacturing controls during production of the universal joints have resulted in units assembled without a thrust bearing washer inside the bearing cup. The unsupported bearing cup migrates, damaging the seal and causing lubrication loss, which leads to bearing seizure and failure of the universal joint. In the worst case, the propeller shaft may detach, rendering the vehicle inoperable.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, inspect the universal joint for play. If play exceeds the specified value, replace the affected propeller shaft assembly with a conforming part.

状況
③フロント及びインターアクスルプロペラシャフトにおいて、ユニバーサルジョイントの製造管理が不適切なため、ベアリングカップ内にスラストワッシャーが組付けられていないものがある。そのため、ベアリングカップの遊動でシールが損傷し、潤滑不足でベアリングが焼付き、ユニバーサルジョイント部が破損して、最悪の場合、プロペラシャフトが脱落して走行不能となるおそれがある。
改善措置
③全車両、ユニバーサルジョイント部のガタを点検し、基準値を超えている場合は、当該プロペラシャフト一式を良品に交換する。
