Defect

On large route buses, the routing of the air lines and power steering lines is improper, causing those lines to contact the underfloor support members at the rear of the body. Continued operation allows vehicle vibration to damage the power steering lines, causing an oil leak. As a result, steering effort may become excessively high.

Corrective action

On all vehicles, inspect the clearance between the lines and the underfloor support members. Where clearance is insufficient, replace the line mounting brackets with corrected parts. Where the lines are already damaged, replace them with new units.
