| Manufacturer(s) | Mitsubishi |
| Component | Power Steering |
| Production period | July 2003 — March 18, 2005 |
| Vehicles affected | 255 units |
Issue
The dimensions of the piston seal groove and seal in the steering cylinder are incorrect. Frequent full-lock-to-full-lock steering inputs cause abnormal wear of the seal. Continued operation allows hydraulic fluid to leak internally, and when the fluid is at elevated temperature, slow steering inputs may cause a sluggish response from the steered wheels. In the worst case, steering controllability is reduced.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, the steering cylinder is replaced with a corrected part.
