Filing in context
The Turbocharger is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 30 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 23 Honda notifications from 2007 in this archive. For scale, 479 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 7 years and 2 months.
Defect
On turbocharged vehicles, the oil feed pipe supplying the turbocharger has inadequate corrosion protection and water sealing. Repeated operation on roads treated with snow-melting agents allows water to contact the pipe and cause rust. Continued use can perforate the pipe, leading to an oil leak that may contact the catalytic converter, ignite, and spread fire to engine components.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the complete oil feed pipe assembly with a corrected part.
