| Date filed | September 4, 2008 |

| Vehicles affected | 581,353 units |
Filing in context
The Fuel pump is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 37 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 16 Honda notifications from 2008 in this archive. For scale, 68 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 2 years and 7 months.
Defect
Improper casting of the fuel pump cover leaves the internal surface of the cover with burrs on some units. Vibration and similar forces can cause these burrs to break free and become lodged between the impeller and the pump cover, preventing the fuel pump from operating. As a result, the engine may stall.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, the complete fuel pump assembly is replaced with a non-defective unit.
