Defect
On vehicles frequently used for extended cold-engine warm-up idling or repeated short-distance trips, moisture from condensed blowby gas mixes into the engine oil. Over prolonged use, the sealant surface of the cylinder head plug absorbs this moisture and undergoes hydrolysis, causing it to harden and lose sealing effectiveness, allowing engine oil to seep out. If use continues in this condition, the seeping oil accumulates inside the exhaust pipe cover and may ignite, causing a vehicle fire.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the cylinder head plug with a corrected part.

状況
冷機時の長時間暖機運転や短距離走行の使用頻度が高い車両において、ブローバイガスの凝縮結露でエンジンオイルに水分が混ざり、長期の使用過程でシリンダヘッドプラグのシール材表面が吸水して加水分解すると硬化し、シール性が低下してエンジンオイルが滲むことがある。そのため、そのままの状態で使用を続けると、滲み出たオイルが排気管カバー内に溜まり、発煙・発火するおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、シリンダヘッドプラグを対策品と交換する。
