Defect
Improper assembly of the steering joint that connects the upper and lower steering shafts results in insufficient engagement between the joint and the upper shaft. Continued use may cause the joint and upper shaft to separate. In the worst case, loss of steering control may occur.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, inspect the assembly condition of the steering upper shaft and steering joint. Where the assembly is found to be improper, reassemble to the correct specification.

状況
ステアリングアッパシャフトとステアリングロアシャフトを結合するステアリングジョイントの組み付け作業が不適切なため、当該ジョイントとアッパシャフトのかみ合いが浅いものがある。そのため、そのまま使用を続けると、最悪の場合、ジョイントとアッパシャフトの嵌合が外れ、操舵不能となるおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、ステアリングアッパシャフトとステアリングジョイントの組み付け状態を点検し、組み付け状態が不適切なものは正規の状態に組み付ける。
