Filing in context
The Pressure Control/Transmission Assembly is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 2 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 5 Daihatsu notifications from 2005 in this archive. For scale, 2,029 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 2 months.
Defect
During the assembly process, improper brake fluid filling procedures applied excessive force to the joint between the brake reservoir tank and the master cylinder. This causes the rubber seal at the joint to fold over, resulting in a fluid leak. Continued use causes the brake warning light to illuminate and, in the worst case, allows air to enter the brake system, reducing braking force.
Corrective action
Inspect the joint between the brake reservoir tank and the master cylinder for brake fluid leaks. If a leak is found, replace the brake reservoir tank with a new part and fill brake fluid to the specified level.
Affected models & chassis ranges
This filing lists 2 type code(s). A vehicle is affected if its chassis number falls within one of the ranges below.
