Defect
During assembly of the automatic transmission or transfer case, an improper jig was used to verify output shaft rotation, scratching the output shaft oil seal on affected units. Continued use causes oil to leak from the seal. In the worst case, insufficient lubrication in the automatic transmission or transfer case renders the vehicle inoperable.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, inspect the automatic transmission serial number. On affected vehicles, replace the oil seal with a new part. Where oil leakage has already occurred, inspect the oil level; if it is below the specified value, replace the automatic transmission or transfer case with a new unit.

状況
動力伝達装置において、自動変速機または副変速機の組立工程で出力軸の回転状態を確認する治具が不適切なため、当該部のオイルシールを傷つけたものがある。そのため、そのままの状態で使用を続けると、シール部からオイルが漏れ、最悪の場合、自動変速機または副変速機の潤滑が不足し走行不能となるおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、自動変速機の製造番号を点検し、対象車両はオイルシールを新品と交換する。またオイルが漏れているものについてはオイル量を点検し、規定量を下まわっているものは自動変速機または副変速機を新品に交換する。
