Defect
The joint connecting the steering shaft to the steering gear box was improperly assembled, resulting in insufficient engagement depth between the joint and the gear box on some vehicles. Repeated steering inputs cause wear at the engagement area, producing play. Continued use increases the play and, in the worst case, may result in loss of steering control.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, inspect the assembly position of the joint. Where improperly assembled, replace the joint with a new part and reassemble it to the correct position.

状況
ステアリングシャフトとギヤ・ボックスの継手の組付け作業が不適切なため、当該継手とギヤ・ボックスのかみ合いが浅いものがあり、繰り返しハンドル操作を行うと当該かみ合い部に摩耗が生じガタが発生するものがある。そのため、そのままの状態で使用を続けるとガタが大きくなり、最悪の場合、かじ取操作ができなくなるおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、継手の組付け位置を点検し、不適切なものは当該継手を新品と交換し、正規位置に組付ける。
