Defect
The seating surface of the caliper mounting bolts on the rear disc brakes was improperly machined, leaving insufficient material. Under repeated hard braking, these bolts may loosen. This causes abnormal noise during braking and, in the worst case, allows the bolt to detach so that the brake caliper contacts and damages the inside of the rear wheel.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, confirm the rear axle serial number. On affected units, replace the rear axle assembly with a new one and replace the subject bolts with conforming parts.
