Issue
A connector fitting inside the automatic transmission is improperly shaped. During abrupt acceleration in forward or reverse, the anti-rotation portion of the fitting may fracture and become lodged in the parking lock mechanism. As a result, moving the shift lever to the Park position may not engage the parking lock. Note: This recall was originally filed on June 30, 2004. A correction to the affected vehicle production period and unit count was subsequently made on July 9, 2004, following identification of a partial error in the vehicle selection.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the automatic transmission with a corrected unit.

状況
自動変速機の内部にある接続用金具の形状が不適切なため、前進や後退時に急なアクセ ル操作等を行うと、当該金具の回り止め部が折損し、パーキングロック機構部に挟まるこ とがある。そのため、チェンジレバーをパーキング位置に操作しても、パーキングロック 機構が作動しなくなるおそれがある。 (備考) 本件は平成16年6月30日に届出を行ったものであるが、対象車両の選定に一部誤りが あることが判明したため、対象車の製作期間及び台数を訂正するものである(平成16年 7月9日)
改善措置
全車両、自動変速機を対策品と交換する。
