Filing in context
The Fuel Hose/Pipe is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 29 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 24 Toyota notifications from 2016 in this archive. For scale, 148 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 3 years and 10 months.
Defect
In the engine fuel delivery pipe, the torque specification for tightening the fuel pressure sensor is incorrect, resulting in insufficient clamping force at the joint and an inadequate seal. As a result, a fuel odor may be present in cold conditions, and fuel may leak from the joint.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the fuel pressure sensor gasket with a new one and retighten the fuel pressure sensor to the correct torque.
