Issue

On vehicles equipped with a high-opening back door, the upper mounting bracket for the right-side back door stay was improperly machined. Repeated opening and closing of the back door causes the bushing to break down and the nut to loosen. If use continues in this condition, in the worst case, the gas stay may detach and the back door can no longer be held in the open position.

Corrective action

On all vehicles, replace the bracket assembly with a new part as an interim measure.
