Defect

In the wiring harness of the PTC heater used for supplemental cabin heating, the wire gauge is undersized. When the PTC heater operates continuously at maximum output, the heat generated may deform the connector terminals. Continued use in this condition causes the terminal area to reach excessive temperatures, burning the connector and, in the worst case, causing a vehicle fire.

Corrective action

On all vehicles, replace the PTC heater harness with a corrected/revised part. Additionally, inspect the connector terminals; if discoloration or other damage is found, replace the PTC heater with a new unit. If replacement parts are unavailable, temporarily disable the PTC heater until parts are ready.

状況

暖房を補助するＰＴＣヒータのハーネスにおいて、ハーネス電線径が不適切なため、ＰＴＣヒータが最大出力で連続作動すると、発熱によりコネクタ端子が変形することがある。そのため、そのままの状態で使用を続けると、端子部が高温になりコネクタが焼損し、最悪の場合、車両火災に至るおそれがある。

改善措置

全車両、ＰＴＣヒータハーネスを対策品に交換する。また、コネクタ端子部を点検し、変色などが認められた場合はＰＴＣヒータを新品に交換する。なお、ＰＴＣヒータの交換部品が無い場合は、準備ができるまで、一時的に機能停止の処置をする。
