Issue

The gap between the side member and the front-end cross member is improperly designed, allowing the accelerator cable to be routed through that gap. If the vehicle sustains a frontal collision—even a minor one—while the cable is routed through the gap, the accelerator cable may be damaged. Continued use in this condition increases the cable's sliding resistance and, in the worst case, the accelerator pedal may fail to return to its rest position.

Corrective action

On all vehicles, inspect the accelerator cable routing. If the cable is routed through the gap between the side member and the front-end cross member, replace the accelerator cable with the corrected part. If the cable is not routed through that gap, add a sponge pad to the accelerator cable.

状況

サイドメンバとフロントエンドクロスメンバとの隙間設定が不適切なため、アクセルケーブルが当該隙間に配索される可能性がある。アクセルケーブルが当該隙間に配索された状態で車両前部を衝突させると、軽微な衝突であってもアクセルケーブルが損傷する場合があり、そのまま使用を続けると、アクセルケーブルの摺動荷重が増大し、最悪の場合、アクセルペダルが戻らなくなるおそれがある。

改善措置

全車両、アクセルケーブルの配索経路を点検し、サイドメンバとフロントエンドクロスメンバの隙間に配索されている場合は、アクセルケーブルを対策品に交換する。当該隙間に配索されていない場合は、アクセルケーブルにスポンジパッドを追加する。
