Issue

The stud bolts securing the gas-charged stays on the back door lack sufficient durability against the loads generated during opening and closing. Repeated operation causes the fiber washer at the stud bolt mounting point to wear and the stud bolt to loosen. If the vehicle continues to be used in this condition, the stud bolt may fracture, and the back door will no longer be held in position.

Corrective action

On all vehicles, replace the stud bolts and fiber washers with corrected parts.
