Defect
The purge resonator—which reduces pulsation noise as fuel evaporative gas passes through the hose—was manufactured using an improper process, causing the welded joint to separate. As a result, fuel evaporative gas may leak from the resonator, allowing hydrocarbon emissions to exceed the regulatory limit.
Corrective action
On all affected vehicles, replace the purge resonator with a conforming part.
