This filing is one of 9 Toyota notifications from 2026 in this archive. Defect
Due to insufficient design consideration, stress concentrates near the crimped end of the parking brake cable each time the parking brake is applied. Repeated operation causes the cable to fracture. In the worst case, the parking brake may fail to hold the vehicle, allowing it to roll away.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the parking brake cable with the corrected part and add a spacer.
