Issue
The welding conditions used during manufacturing of the drive lead-acid battery are incorrect, resulting in weak weld joints inside the battery. Repeated charge and discharge cycles cause the weld joints to deteriorate prematurely. In the worst case, an internal broken wire occurs within the drive battery, rendering the vehicle inoperable and preventing restart.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, the drive lead-acid battery is replaced with a conforming unit.
