Defect
In the combination meter, inadequate parts management of the circuit board components has resulted in incorrect electronic components being installed. When an affected component reaches high temperature during use, solder may melt and the component may fall onto the electrical circuit, causing a short circuit. This renders the speedometer, odometer, and related instruments inoperative, and the vehicle may fail to conform to Safety Standards.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, inspect the combination meter serial number. If the unit is identified as affected, replace it with a conforming unit.
