Defect
On large trucks and tractors, the bolts and nuts securing the spare tire carrier to the vehicle body were improperly tightened during assembly, resulting in insufficient clamping torque and reduced axial force. Continued use allows road vibration to loosen the bolts and nuts further. In the worst case, the bolts and nuts may detach completely, causing the spare tire to fall from the vehicle together with the carrier and creating a hazard for other traffic.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, inspect the spare tire carrier mounting bolts and nuts and retighten them to the specified torque.

状況
大型トラック及びトラクタにおいて、スペアタイヤキャリアを車体に固定するボルト/ナットの締付けが不適切なため、締付けトルクが不足し、軸力が低下していることがある。そのため、そのままの状態で使用を続けると、走行時の振動等によりボルト/ナットが緩み、最悪の場合、ボルト/ナットが外れ、当該キャリアとともにスペアタイヤが脱落し、他の交通の妨げとなるおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、当該キャリアの固定ボルト/ナットを点検し、規定トルクで締付ける。
