Defect
On large trucks, (3) the pre-plating acid-wash process for the clamp bolt on the front-front axle right-side tie rod end is incorrect. Hydrogen embrittlement has reduced the strength of the bolt. Continued use in this condition may cause the bolt to fracture, introducing play at the tie rod end. In the worst case, the tie rod tube may break, resulting in loss of steering control.
Corrective action
(3) On all vehicles, replace the front-front axle right-side tie rod end clamp bolt and nut with the corrected parts. If the bolt or nut is damaged or missing, replace the tie rod as a complete assembly.

状況
大型トラックにおいて、 (3) 前前軸右側タイロッドエンドの固定クランプ締付けボルトのメッキ前処理(酸洗い)工程が不適切なため、水素脆化によりボルトの強度が低下しているものがある。そのため、そのままの状態で使用を続けると、ボルトが破断してタイロッドエンド部にガタが生じ、最悪の場合、タイロッドチューブが破損して、操舵不能になるおそれがある。
改善措置
(3) 全車両、前前軸右側タイロッドエンドの固定クランプボルト/ナットを対策品と交換する。なお、ボルト/ナットが損傷または脱落している場合には、タイロッドをアッセンブリで交換する。
