Defect
The audio amplifier circuit design does not account for the effects of foreign material intrusion. If a short circuit occurs in an unprotected portion of the circuit, the existing protection circuit fails to respond, and the circuit board may burn. This generates flammable gas and, in the worst case, may result in a vehicle fire.
Corrective action
Add a fused electrical wiring harness and a metal bracket to the audio amplifier on all vehicles.
