Defect
On the driver's door power window switch, grease applied for lubrication may not have been distributed uniformly. Arcing at the contact points during switch operation carbonizes the grease and degrades its lubricating properties. This causes the switch to slide poorly, leading to premature contact wear and switch malfunction. In addition, if an aftermarket lubricant is applied in an attempt to restore switch movement, the switch may melt.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, inspect the power window switch. If a malfunction is confirmed, replace the switch circuit board with one pre-coated with heat-resistant grease. On switches found to be functioning normally, apply heat-resistant grease to the contact points. If a malfunction subsequently develops on any switch that received the heat-resistant grease application, replace the power window switch.

状況
運転席ドア部のパワーウィンドウスイッチにおいて、スイッチの潤滑用グリースが均一に塗布されていないものがあり、スイッチ操作時に接点部で発生するアーク(火花)によってグリースが炭化して潤滑性が悪化することがある。そのため、スイッチの摺動が悪くなり、早期に接点が摩耗して作動不良となるおそれがある。 また、スイッチの摺動不良を改善させようと市販の潤滑剤等を塗布すると、スイッチが溶損するおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、パワーウィンドウスイッチを点検し、作動不良が確認されたものについては、耐熱性グリースを塗布したスイッチ基板と交換し、それ以外については、接点部に耐熱性グリースを塗布する。 また、上記の点検により、耐熱性グリースを塗布したものについて、その後、作動不良が発生した場合は、パワーウィンドウスイッチを交換する。
