Filing in context
This notification is a joint filing by 2 manufacturers: Daihatsu & Toyota.
The Computer is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 42 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 7 Daihatsu notifications from 2020 in this archive. For scale, 196 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 6 years.
Defect
The hybrid system's fault detection control program is incorrect. During high-load driving conditions such as rapid acceleration from very low speeds, if a voltage boost circuit element is damaged, the system may fail to enter fail-safe mode. As a result, a warning lamp illuminates and the hybrid system shuts down, rendering the vehicle inoperable.
Corrective action
Reprogram the fault detection control program to the corrected specification on all vehicles. If a warning lamp illuminates due to element damage after the reprogram is applied, replace the power converter module at no charge.
Affected models & chassis ranges
This filing lists 4 type code(s). A vehicle is affected if its chassis number falls within one of the ranges below.
