Filing in context
This notification is a joint filing by 3 manufacturers: Daihatsu, Lexus & Toyota.
The Other (electrical system) is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 6 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 8 Daihatsu notifications from 2021 in this archive. For scale, 1,125 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 4 months.
Defect
In the hybrid system, the power conversion module control board has insufficient electrical noise immunity. Voltage fluctuations in the high-voltage circuit generate electrical noise that the power control circuit misidentifies as a fault, causing it to shut down momentarily. This brief drop in supply voltage may trigger the engine warning lamp and cause a temporary loss of drive power.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, inspect the power conversion module and replace it with the corrected part if applicable.
