Defect
In the gas-filled inflator used for the curtain airbag, improper manufacturing leaves residual lubricant inside the inflator pipe due to inadequate cleaning, resulting in incomplete welds. Micro-cracks develop at the weld. When cabin temperature rises while the vehicle is parked, internal gas pressure increases and the weld fractures. In the worst case, fragments may be propelled into the passenger compartment.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, install an additional fragment-containment protector.

状況
カーテンシールドエアバッグ用ガス封入式インフレータにおいて、製造が不適切なため、インフレータパイプの洗浄が不十分でパイプ内に潤滑剤が残り、適切に溶接ができていないものがある。そのため、溶接部に微小な亀裂が入り、駐車中に車室内の温度が上がると封入ガス圧が上昇して溶接部が破断し、最悪の場合、破片の一部が車室内に飛び出すおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、飛散防止用プロテクタを追加する。
