Defect
On vehicles converted to electric drive, the control unit does not properly manage motor operation at high rotational speeds. During re-acceleration at highway speeds, the control unit's fail-safe function activates and the vehicle may become inoperable.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, update the vehicle EV system control unit (VCU) software by replacing the VCU with a unit containing the corrected/updated software.
