Defect

In the hybrid system, the fault-detection control software is incorrect. During high-load operation such as rapid acceleration from very low speed, if a component in the boost converter circuit is damaged, the system may fail to transition to fail-safe control mode. As a result, a warning lamp illuminates, the hybrid system shuts down, and the vehicle may become inoperable.

Corrective action

On all vehicles, reprogram the fault-detection control software to the corrected specification. If, after reprogramming, a circuit component is subsequently damaged and the warning lamp illuminates, the power converter module will be replaced at no charge.
