Defect
(1) The engine intake shutter valve control program is incorrectly configured. Soot and other deposits around the valve cause the valve opening to be improperly controlled. When the engine warning light illuminates, the fail-safe function does not operate fully, and the valve may fail to open completely. If soot deposits cause the valve to seize in the fully closed position, the engine may stall. (2) The exhaust pressure sensor fault-detection program is incorrectly configured. Moisture ingress into the sensor causes the sensor output to shift, allowing exhaust emissions to exceed the specified threshold without triggering a fault. Continued operation allows the moisture to corrode the sensor's internal electronic circuit, causing a broken wire/disconnection. This illuminates the engine warning light, and fail-safe control disables the idling stop function, resulting in increased shift shock.
Corrective action
(1) On all vehicles, the engine control computer will be inspected and the intake shutter valve control program updated to the corrected software. If the inspection reveals a fault with the intake shutter valve, the valve will be replaced with a new part. If the engine warning light illuminates after the software update, the intake shutter valve will also be replaced with a new part. (2) On all vehicles, the engine control computer will be inspected and the exhaust pressure sensor control program updated to the corrected software. If the inspection reveals a fault with the exhaust pressure sensor, the sensor will be replaced with a current new part. If the engine warning light illuminates after the software update, the exhaust pressure sensor will also be replaced with a current new part.

状況
(1)エンジンの吸気シャッタ・バルブにおいて、制御プログラムが不適切なため、バルブ周辺に付着する煤などにより、バルブ開度が正しく制御されなくなり、エンジン警告灯が点灯した際、フェールセーフが十分に機能せず、バルブが全開しないことがある。そのため、煤などの付着により、バルブが全閉のまま固着した場合、エンジンが停止するおそれがある。 (2)エンジンの排気圧センサにおいて、異常判定プログラムが不適切なため、センサ内部への水分の浸入により、センサの出力値がずれ、排出ガスが基準値を満足しなくなる場合に、異常判定しない。そのため、そのままの状態で使用を続けると、浸入した水分により排気圧センサ内の電子回路が腐食し、断線することでエンジン警告灯が点灯し、フェールセーフ制御によりアイドリングストップが作動しなくなり、変速ショックが大きくなるおそれがある。
改善措置
(1)全車両、エンジン制御コンピュータを点検し、吸気シャッタ・バルブ用制御プログラムを対策プログラムに修正する。点検の結果、吸気シャッタ・バルブに異常がある場合は、吸気シャッタ・バルブを新品に交換する。また、プログラム修正後にエンジン警告灯が点灯した場合は、吸気シャッタ・バルブを新品に交換する。 (2)全車両、エンジン制御コンピュータを点検し、排気圧センサ用制御プログラムを対策プログラムに修正する。点検の結果、排気圧センサに異常がある場合は、排気圧センサを現行の新品に交換する。また、プログラム修正後にエンジン警告灯が点灯した場合は、排気圧センサを現行の新品に交換する。
