Defect
In the diesel engine control program, a software error causes the engine control computer to incorrectly identify the brief residual rotation that occurs during engine shutdown as an abnormality, preventing the computer from cutting off its own power supply. As a result, the start-stop unit interprets this condition as a short circuit in the starter circuit. When the push-button start is pressed, the power position may fail to switch to ON, preventing the engine from starting.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, reprogram the engine control program with the corrected software.
