Defect
In the automatic transmission, the shift hydraulic pressure control program within the engine control unit is improperly calibrated, allowing hydraulic pressure to rise excessively during gear changes. Repeated aggressive acceleration can damage the clutch pack inside the transmission, leading to poor acceleration. In the worst case, the vehicle may become inoperable.
Corrective action
For all vehicles, reprogram the shift hydraulic pressure control program in the engine control unit to the corrected specification.
