Defect
On ambulances, the surface treatment of the back door lock components is improperly applied. Repeated opening and closing of the back door causes premature wear of these components. Vibration during driving may then trigger a warning lamp and cause the door to rest in a half-latched position, failing to conform to Safety Standards Article 25 (door opening standards).
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the back door lock with a corrected part.
