Defect

During casting of the engine cylinder block, a core in the casting mold shifted out of position, resulting in oil passages that were not fully formed through the block. Insufficient oil supply causes seizure of the crankshaft journal bearings, producing abnormal noise. In the worst case, the engine may seize.

Corrective action

On all vehicles, verify the manufacturing lot of the cylinder block. On affected units, inspect the oil passages for complete penetration. If any passage is blocked or only partially open, replace the engine with a conforming unit.

状況

原動機のシリンダーブロックにおいて、鋳造型の中子がずれたまま鋳造されたため、オイル通路が完全に貫通していないものがある。そのため、オイル供給不足によりクランクシャフトのジャーナルメタルが焼き付き、異音が発生し、最悪の場合、原動機が焼き付くおそれがある。

改善措置

全車両、シリンダーブロックの製造ロットを確認のうえ、該当するものは、オイル通路の貫通状態を確認し、未貫通または一部閉塞している場合は原動機を良品と交換する。
