Defect
On rear dual-axle heavy-duty tractors, the socket geometry of the torque wrench used to tighten the differential ring gear mounting bolts is incorrect, resulting in insufficient tightening torque on some units. Continued use allows the bolts to loosen and, in the worst case, the bolts may back out completely, causing differential damage and rendering the vehicle inoperable.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, tighten the ring gear mounting bolts to the specified torque.

状況
後2軸式の大型トラクタにおいて、ディファレンシャルのリングギヤを固定するボルトの締付作業を行う際、ボルト締付機のソケット形状が不適切なため、締付トルクが不足しているものがある。そのため、そのままの状態で使用を続けると、ボルトが緩み、最悪の場合、ボルトが抜け、ディファレンシャルが破損して走行不能になるおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、リングギヤの固定ボルトを規定トルクで締付ける。
