Defect
On rear tandem-axle medium-duty trucks, the oil lubrication circuit for the forward rear axle inter-differential is improperly designed, causing differential oil in the forward rear axle to reach excessively high temperatures during driving. This raises internal pressure within the forward rear axle, which may cause oil to leak from the air breather and oil seal areas. Additionally, the excessive oil temperature accelerates oil degradation, promoting accelerated wear of the inter-differential and forward rear axle differential bearings and gears, which may produce abnormal noise.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, inspect the interior of the inter-differential. If no abnormality is found in the bearings or gears, replace the input cover and differential case set with corrected parts, remove the oil separator, and install an oil pump. If an abnormality is found, replace the inter-differential as a complete corrected assembly. Also inspect the forward rear axle differential and, if any abnormality is found in the bearings or gears, replace the differential as a complete new assembly.

状況
リヤ２軸駆動の中型トラックにおいて、後前軸インターデフ部へのオイル潤滑構造が不適切なため、走行中に後前軸のデフオイルが過度に高温になることで後前軸内部の圧力が上昇して、エアブリーザやオイルシール部からオイル漏れが生じることがある。 また、デフオイルが過度に高温になることで早期にオイル劣化が進行するため、インターデフと後前軸デフのベアリングやギヤの摩耗が促進されて異音が生じることがある。
改善措置
全車両、インターデフ内部を点検し、ベアリングやギヤに異常が認められなかった場合は、インプットカバーとデフケースセットを対策品に交換すると共にオイルセパレータを取り外してオイルポンプを取付け、異常が認められた場合は、対策品のインターデフ一式に交換する。 また、後前軸のデフを点検し、ベアリングやギヤに異常が認められた場合は、新品のデフ一式に交換する。
