Defect
In the DC-DC converter, improper inspection instructions during parts testing caused excessive voltage to be applied, damaging the internal circuit board on some units. Continued use may cause an internal short circuit within the converter, resulting in a charging fault and illumination of warning lights. In the worst case, a vehicle fire may occur.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the DC-DC converter with a non-defective unit.
