Filing in context
This notification is a joint filing by 3 manufacturers: Mazda, Nissan & Suzuki.
The Seat is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 34 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 27 Mazda notifications from 2015 in this archive. For scale, 2,944 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles.
Defect
Incorrect manufacturing instructions for the rear seat result in insufficient internal clearance within the latch that secures the seat to the vehicle body. This reduces the freedom of movement of the latch release lever and, in the worst case, may prevent the rear seat from locking securely in place.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the rear seat cushion assembly with a conforming part.
