Defect
On turbocharged vehicles, the gasket material installed between the turbocharger oil return pipe and the turbocharger is not suitable for the application. The combined effects of thermal expansion and contraction of the exhaust pipe and vibration from high-load operation may cause the fastening bolts at that joint to loosen. If the vehicle continues to be operated, the bolt loosening may progress, allowing engine oil to leak and, in the worst case, resulting in a vehicle fire.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, inspect the gasket. If the affected gasket is installed, replace the complete gasket set with the corrected parts and torque all fasteners to the specified value.

状況
ターボチャージャ付車両において、ターボチャージャからオイルパンにオイルを戻すターボオイルリターンパイプとターボチャージャとの間に装着しているガスケットの材質が不適切なため、排気管の熱膨張収縮および高負荷運転による振動との複合要因により、当該締結部のボルトが緩む場合がある。そのため、そのまま使用を続けると当該ボルトの緩みが進行し、エンジンオイルが漏れ、最悪の場合、火災に至るおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、当該ガスケットを点検し、該当するガスケットが装着されている場合は、ガスケット一式を対策品に交換し、規定トルクで締付ける。
