Defect
In the engine, the opening set point of the electronically controlled variable nozzle on the turbocharger is incorrect. When the compression-release engine brake is activated, excessive gas-flow forces act on the turbocharger turbine blades. Continued use causes partial damage to the turbine blades and produces abnormal noise. In the worst case, black smoke may be emitted.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the electronic control unit governing the variable nozzle with a corrected part, and replace the turbocharger turbine blades with conforming parts. On vehicles where the turbine blades are already damaged, replace the complete turbocharger assembly with a conforming part.

状況
原動機において、過給機の電子制御式可変ノズルの開度設定が不適切なため、圧縮圧開放 式エンジンブレーキを作動させると過給機のタービン翼にガス流による過大な力が作用し 、そのままの状態で使用を続けると、当該タービン翼の一部が損傷して異音が発生し、最 悪の場合、黒煙を発生するおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、当該可変ノズルを制御する電子制御装置を対策品に交換するとともに、過給機の タービン翼を良品に交換する。また、タービン翼に損傷のあるものについては過給機を良 品に交換する。
