Filing in context

The Wiring is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 236 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 42 Isuzu notifications from 2011 in this archive. For scale, 4,050 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 4 months.

Defect

On route buses, electrical wiring inside the engine compartment is improperly routed, allowing the wiring to contact the edge of a wiring retaining bracket. Continued use in this condition may cause the wiring to short circuit. In the worst case, the engine may stall and be unable to restart.

Corrective action

On all vehicles, inspect the routing of the electrical wiring inside the engine compartment. Where clearance between the wiring and the retaining bracket is insufficient, install protective material on the wiring and bracket. Any wiring found to be damaged must be repaired.
