Filing in context
The Other (Electrical Equipment) is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 46 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 16 Honda notifications from 2011 in this archive. For scale, 2,927 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 1 year and 5 months.
Defect
The tip-over engine stop sensor uses an inadequate vibration-damping structure, causing the sensor to resonate at specific engine speeds. This resonance may shift the internal tilt-detection pendulum to the fall-detection position. As a result, the sensor may falsely detect a tip-over and abruptly stop the engine while the vehicle is in motion.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the sensor with the corrected part.
